Are you passionate about shaping the next generation of perioperative professionals? Geisinger is seeking an experienced Perioperative Nursing Program Director to lead and administer our system‑wide AORN Perioperative 101 program. This role oversees all didactic and clinical components, supports the development of nurses and other professionals entering perioperative practice, and advances evidence‑based education across the health system. The Director serves as an educator, leader, consultant, and researcher, collaborating with perioperative teams to strengthen clinical practice, ensure competency, and enhance the delivery of safe, high‑quality patient care.
As the Perioperative Nursing Program Director, you will play a pivotal role in:
Leading and administering the AORN Perioperative 101 Program, ensuring new healthcare professionals to the OR receive a strong foundation for safe and competent care.
Designing and implementing evidence‑based didactic and clinical education for perioperative teams across the health system.
Serving as a clinical expert, consultant, facilitator, and change agent to elevate perioperative practice.
Collaborating with nursing research teams to advance perioperative research and integrate best practices.
Partnering with Perioperative Services leaders and educators to support workforce development across diverse units.
What We’re Looking For
✔️ Minimum 5 years of nursing (including perioperative clinical nursing experience, specifically in an operating room and perioperative education and/or nursing leadership experience)
✔️ Expertise in AORN guidelines and perioperative best practices
✔️ Master’s degree in Nursing (Doctoral preferred)
✔️ BLS, ACLS, and CNOR required
